Government Legal Network
The Government Legal Network (GLN) supports and connects lawyers and legal teams working in government.
Led by departmental Chief Legal Advisors and the Law Officers (Attorney-General and Solicitor-General), the Government Legal Network (GLN) comprises over 1000 lawyers in central government and Crown entities. By leveraging collective legal expertise, the GLN addresses a broad spectrum of complex legal matters, promotes rewarding career pathways for government lawyers and assists the Crown in the delivery of better public services to New Zealanders.
Government lawyers automatically become members of the network but need to sign up to access GLNOnline and other resources and communications.
What we offer members
Included among the events/programmes and opportunities for participation in the GLN are the following:
• Chief Legal Advisor Forum and Sub-Forum meetings
• Seminars and events on various legal topics
• An annual conference
• A bi-monthly newsletter
• Regular jobs and secondment notifications
Lawyers within the GLN also have access to GLNOnline. This is an extranet for government lawyers that contains a variety of useful information and resources, including information on events, training sessions, legal advice, and advertisements detailing job and secondment opportunities.
Access to GLNOnline is free and open to all lawyers currently practising in government. Find out more and sign up here.
